Hello BC'ers,

Now withdrawn.

1979 Gibson The Paul.

It is made from Walnut with an Ebony fingerboard.

It's well used and gigged which the dings, bangs, scrapes and knocks show – A natural relic I like to think! The only non-original parts are the black Schaller strap lock buttons and it comes in an old, but fully working, SKB hard case (no key for the lock however).

That said the back of the neck and electronics are all in very good condition and it plays great. For completeness it was re-fretted at Chandler Guitars in Kew many years ago and plays like a dream as a result.

I remember wanting one of these when they came out - lovely stripped down LP in the top notch tonewoods and with the very decent pickups Gibson were using at the time, and at an excellent price.  Happy with my '72 Custom, but I bet this is lighter....

Thanks Shaggy and yes, I reckon quite a bit lighter than your LP Custom!

I wanted one of these. There was one new in Telecoms in Portsmouth for £320 in 1980. I lusted after it but I couldn't persuade my dad to lend me the money or guarantor a loan, as I had just bought a Roland electronic piano.
