prowla Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 It seems like it's got to the point where more people write Squire than Squier. Quote

Al Krow Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Also while we're on the subject, it's Häussel or Haeussel not Haussel. Really cringe-worthy when folk make such simple spelling errors: makes you kinda think they don't care so long as folk understand what they're saying? 1 Quote
dannybuoy Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Don’t get me started on Morrischick basses. 2 Quote
SH73 Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Not guitar related but it's ŠKODA and not Skoda. Š in ŠKODA is pronounced like sh in sherry. Quote
LITTLEWING Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Love it on sales sites where there are 'symbels', bass speaker 150 watts (actually a whole combo), 38 watt practice amp (read it on the back as power consumption, actually a 15 watt job), and the odd food mixer.... 1 Quote

Grangur Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 If "Squire" is pronounced sk-why-er Shouldn't "Squier" be pronounced Sk-wee-er ? Quote
Hobbayne Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Lie Chester Square in London is unpronounceable! 1 Quote
dannybuoy Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 As is Luger Baruga, commonly spelt as Loughborough, just to the north east of BirmingHAM. Quote
itsmedunc Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) Just sent a text on iPhone and "oki doki" was changed to "oil Richard" ??? My mate wouldn't have been best pleased! I can write bollocks but not D.I.C.K. What if my name was d.i.c.k? Edited April 21, 2018 by itsmedunc Quote
Happy Jack Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 So I guess Lemmy's old band should have been Mo-teurgh-head? 1 Quote

You can be pretty sure that, at the time, they didn't know the spelling should be "Motörhead" or "Motoerhead". I'd also put money on the fact they NEVER pronounced it correctly. arthurhenry Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 They'll still write Squier for Chris! Not to mention David Gilmore and Randy Rhodes. Sigh. Quote

Cato Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Slightly OT but did anyone ever get a definitive answer on correct pronunciation of 'Warwick' as in Warwick basses? I've tried to find out before, but even Germans can't seem to agree on whether it's 'Var vick' ,'War wick', 'Bar bick' or some combination of the aforementioned. Quote

BreadBin Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 I've always assumed it was pronounced Worrick Quote
arthurhenry Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Warwick (basses) is pronounced War-wick. Quote
