I've tried to plug it and made up some filler using sapele dust and glue but you can still see the disc a bit its certainly not an invisible repair??

Les Paul style pickup selector in the middle of the circle with massive plastic BASS/TREBLE disc and relocate the vol/tone knob?

I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and make a new body but more in the style of an Ifinity or Streamer as this body shape was very similar to my 5 string I've just done, I'm still going to use contrasting woods probably sapele and pine again or maybe sapele with Oak lines haven't quite decided yet??

Thanks for all the ideas everyone but I think whatever I do to it it's going to look pony!!...................

This is what I'm thinking Oak and Sapele

Either side of the oak on the top and bottom I'm going to try and do Ebony veneer lines.

But I can't decide whether to do an Infinity or Streamer shape?? I'm swaying more towards the Infinity..........

No it will probably be quite flat on the back apart from the belly carve, it's more the general shape I'm going for......

Whilst I'm waiting for the body blank to glue up I thought I'd have a look at finishes

Left is tinted Danish oil and right is normal Danish oil _20181023_144741.thumb.JPG.00b9be7247e51cca74038576f42fbefc.JPG

I think I prefer the tinted one as it brings out the figuring of the grain better??........

I stepped few steps away from my monitor and the repair lines disappeared. I would say that she looks good. And an old way of hiding something is to put something flashy just beside it. Special knob(s), maybe?

I think I'm going to make the other body anyway as it is a project I've thought about doing for a while and see which I prefer once it's done?? At the moment when I look at the body all I can see is the repair!! 😳

Nice jig but...

Surely there was a drawer mechanism which could have been...cough, cough, err..."relocated"

I used, sorry I meant borrowed some 'spare' shower door runner wheels

I've decided to do the original body shape again 😀

That reminds of a Tom Clement Joan bass. Was that any inspiration ?

PS if it is, good choice. I love the Joan series

I'm putting soap bar pickups in this build they should be with me next week at the latest and Ive ordered the preamp nothing special but I'm a bit concerned as this body is only 30mm thick that the push/pull pot might not fit???😳
