Stunning! Is the VS SL a special order? I really want a super light P.

Thanks. They are really nice and so easy to play.

I'am the 2nd owner,  and as far as I know it was a standard order straight from a Swedish shop.

I use feeler gauges on the 7th fret while using a capo on 1st fret and holding down 12th fret (i'd need to confirm the 12th fret as its been a while and might be where the neck meets the heel)

It's F15 you hold down - as you say, where the heel starts.

I think it's a missed opportunity that Sandberg don't offer a detuner as I think there would be a good take-up.

especially as they fit one to the Ida Nielsen signature model

They do if you put in a custom order. I suspect you’d have to go through a shop with the order as some of the options aren’t on the standard Configurator form, ie; pickup options and D-tuners.

This is the reply I got from Sandberg …

There's no way to install a D tuner without extra holes. The BT7 resembles our design the closest

Is that an actual Sandberg one or another make?

I don't know, I asked the Q on here a couple of years ago when I bought my Lionel s/h, and no one knew, you seem to need to interact with sandberg on facebook or twitter, they do come on here but not routinely, some of the members on here are tight with them, some maybe endorsees or sponsored by them. Maybe ask BassDirect they are a dealer/agent

It’s a Hipshot BT7 on the Ida bass

Sandberg told me to install a D tuner it requires drilling extra holes. The BT7 resembles our design the closest

Bass Direct said Sandberg tuners are a specific size and Hipshot don't offer a direct replacement. The Ida Nielsen bass from Sandberg uses an extender and its a BT7

Thanks Mike, its not something i need to do very often and always check the correct practice before adjusting the truss.

I’ve bitten the bullet and contacted Mark at Classic And Cool Guitars re a Lionel Superlight. Had a band practice last night, used a sub 8lb Precision and back is sore today. That tells me invest in a very light short scale.

All going ahead though a 2 year wait, counting down the days already.

In the interim, try and pick up an alder bodied Lionel they come in at 7.5lbs (I’ve had my hands on 4 and they’ve all been about that weight). The gloss finished and aged models are alder. The satin finished with visible grain are ash and about a pound heavier.

Totally agree with Mart, I have a alder body from their Greenline range at 7.5lbs and it’s noticeably lighter than my ash body
