I used the stock screws that came with the bass to make sure everything was secure. Ordered some DR Fat Beams too. Fishfacefour
So I picked up my VM5 a week and a half ago, then immediately had to go away for a week so had no chance to play it! It's a 2004 model in natural ash and a pau ferro fingerboard. It plays nicely (following a quick tweak to the truss rod) and the pickups and preamp sound awesome. Waiting on some new strings and hope to do a final setup this week. Definitely a step up from my Cort which I might have to sell now.. Anyway, here's a couple of pics:

BassApprentice
Pretty sure I saw that for sale near me, was sorely tempted as that's a great combo!
pineweasel
Very nice looking VM5. I’ve been playing with a similar one in the Sandberg Configurator. It’s much newer than 2004 though, that body shape was only introduced in 2015.
Fishfacefour
Hmm interesting. That was my first thought when I saw the ad. I've double checked the Sandberg site now and I clearly read the serial number wrong. It's actually a 2016 model. Need to put my glasses on when doing these things! 🙄 Edited October 19, 2021 by Fishfacefour

Supernaut
Do the new shape Sandberg California series use solid or split shaft pots for the preamp?
fretmeister
When I removed my preamp I’m pretty sure it was solid shaft.

Quatschmacher
I suggested honeyburst as it’s a great stingray colour that has been discontinued.

I want that so much and I don't even know anything about it yet! Well, they'll put a Delano pickup in it and I'll have to burn that in the garden and replace it with something good, but other than that...

Coil closest to the neck = front Coil closest to the bridge = back. There are a minority of weirdos who claim the bridge is the front but they should be secured in a treatment centre next to those who put pineapple on pizza. 2
