I have a Markbass Backline 250W that has a 1/4 jack out put and a speaker output. Does this mean I could run two cabs from this amp? I connected headphones to the jack while the speaker was connected to a cab.  I got a mono signal to the headphones and the cab seemed to work normally. Any observations from anyone? I was thinking of trying build another cab but don't want to waste my time if I'm missing something.

According to the manual, it has 2 speaker outputs: one Speakon/Jack combination, and one Jack socket, located directly underneath the Speakon ouput. You can run a second cab off the Jack but make sure that the total load is 4 Ohm or greater: ie use 2 x 8 Ohm cabs, not one 8 and one 4 .

Many amps only have 1 output. If you want another cab you daisy chain the cabs. The cab socket is wired in parallel.

just make sure your build has 2 sockets in parallel. And that the total load doesn’t go under the minimum your amp can cope with.

Thanks for these replies. If I daisy chain how does this affect impedance? Does this mean 2 x 8ohms = 4ohms?

PS found the answer to this in are earlier thread. Thanks everyone.

Yes, and the outputs on the amp are parallel too. So either way 2 x 8 = 4.
