Is this a clever gadget?

Found these on the Bay - thought that this might be a proper clever little gadget - almost a "free" pick up. Is it as clever as I thought?

Looks like the kind of thing that's been used in acoustic guitars since the 1980s.

Looks like it’s just a 1/4” jack socket in the end pin/strap button going to a 2.5mm jack socket internally, and you’d plug your piezo into the 2.5mm socket?

I reckon you should buy a couple Mick , put them in a box under your bed for a couple or three years and then offer them in the marketplace

Stop putting ideas in my head...and anyway, there's very little room left under the bed

I was wondering if adding this would, in effect, give the bass an extra Piezo...

Adding 'this' alone would give you an extra filled hole on your bass, that's all. It would need a piezo element to be fitted under the saddles or bridge to be of any use.
