Xmas songs

Hi,

My band is looking towards Xmas gigs and discussing what songs to play. We play rock, pop and blues covers, mostly dance, with a female singer.

Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody is already at the top of the list. What other songs do you play that go down well??

I've always thought East 17's Stay Another Day is sparse enough to cover in a variety of styles- one to make your own.

Maria Carey -All I Want for Christmas rocks up well - think Bowling For Soup have an album of Christmas songs that an old band of mine plagiarised

We did a rocked up version of Whams Last Christmas last year. Very simple to learn and sounds great as a rock song

Rockin' Around the Xmas Tree has come up a couple of times with me and is a real crowd pleaser.

We do a punk version of rudolf the red nose reindeer which goes down well, first verse and chorus sung  completely straight and twee then all hell breaks loose.

One of my bands learned "I Believe In Father Christmas" for a live radio broadcast last year. We'll probably do it again if we we have any December gigs this year.

We also try and do whatever the John Lewis Christmas add music is as well
