Schaller Straplock Maintenance

Some of my straplocks have become a bit difficult to operate - is there something I can apply to the mechanism to get it moving more freely to make it easier to remove the strap from the bass?

I've seen something mentioned on the forum before but I can't seem to find it

Although I suppose this should probably be in repairs and technical maybe (?)

Or a very small amount of white lithium grease, works on mine.

If it's got to the point where they need maintenance, I recommend a very close examination of them. I had a Schaller strap lock fail on me mid gig. Close inspection revealed some wear to the pin, only very slight but it was enough with the downward pressure of the bass, to cause it to release. 

I know that they are well regarded and generally very reliable but like most things, they will eventually wear and need maintenance or replacement.

These days I don't use them and instead rely on the little Grolsh type rubber washers. Cost effective, reliable, long lasting and any wear is easily spotted.

I'm beginning to think that I've had my money's worth out of them so it might be time to change. Those new ones do look good.

I remember a thread some time ago about the Loxx ones but no one has mentioned them since. Those new Schaller ones may be worth a try
