Wanted some advice,

Some guy offered me this 86 musician for £1800,

been to see it and it plays wonderfully, like a dream and has some real mojo.

Its all original but has even stripped to natural.

DO you think its worth it?

He has said he will listen to offers, what price do you guys recon i should give ?

For me it isn`t a very nice bit(s) of wood for a natural body. I would cut him down a bit and get it painted if you love the sound.

But maybe if you stick some paint on it, it might not sound the same? I think I would look around for one of the modern Classic models and get a s/h one of those.

The last all original pre-EB Stingray I was offered on here was £1,500.

Given this has been refinished / stripped I’d say it’s worth less than half what he’s asking.

That's less than £900 for a transition era stingray so I disagree.

If it were mine I'd keep it as an ornament for anything less than about £1100.

I’d say that’s possible a fair retail price, but not in a private sale; and the refin just destroys the value. A refin vintage Fender is worth about 50% of an all original, and I reckon that stands for these too.

We can both agree £1800 is a bit steep!

£1800 is to steep no doubt about it, that's pre EB without a refin money.
