Synthetic/Nylon strings

I was up in Orkney this weekend playing the folk festival and borrowed a double bass with synthetic/nylon strings and they were amazing! they sounded great (i was playing for a bluegrass band) and they didn't tear my fingers up. I asked the owner what they were but he didn't know. They were a dirty brown colour with a white spiral looking core, don't if that helps anyone identify them?? anyway, I've decided i want to try nylon/synthetic strings but wanted recommendations first.

No guarantees - the description reminds me of Innovation Silver Slaps.  I have found them right hand friendly.  I am sure others will make suggestions.

Could be Presto Nylonwound? 

Although they have a steel core, they're low tension and feel like synthetic strings.

Yes, sounds to me like Presto. I have Presto Lights on my bass, they are low tension, don't rip up your hands and will still work with mag pickups so I'm told, I just have piezo. They also make a reasonable amount of noise un-amplified.

It was my bass! The strings were Innovation Silver Slaps. I think they also do a string called Super Silver which has a little more tension but are similar in construction.

Perhaps Golden Slaps, which are the same as Silver Slaps apart from the colour. Great strings - I use them as well.
