I rehearsed there in  the late 90s. Lots of Trace Elliot amplification, you could smoke in the rooms, of which there were fewer, and  then again just a few years ago with the Ashdown amps, cleaner air, more rooms and added sweety machines in reception. Staff were always great, always friendly. Had some good times there. Shame it’s closing.

Bit of a dump though wasn't it. And those Behringer bass stacks :(

Good falafels from the cookshop next door though!

The whole School Road area has been earmarked for redevelopment into residential buildings.

I had my first session there back in 1982. It only had 2 rooms and a pool table. The last time I was there they had lots of rooms.

It used to run by a bloke called Simon and his sister IIRC.

Nothing wrong with Behringer gear! :D I was more worried about being electrocuted because of the extensive damp...

Anyone know if they're auctioning off the gear?

Hmm... a Behringer bass rig that's been used and abused by practically every bass player in town since the late 70s... I bid 99p!

I've lost count of the number of bands I've rehearsed with or auditioned for at that place. Scuzzy as it was, I'll miss it.

Likewise. The various steps and industrial bits nearby were very handy for moody photos, particularly the classic 'up the nose' shot.

Funnily enough I bumped into Simon a year or so after it closed, he's now working as a postman at my delivery office! We had a good chat about the studios, and he said he'd been able to sense it was coming to an end a while before they closed. He'd been there since the 90s.
