There was indeed a SS strat, and guitarists bang on relentlessly about them having 'Holy Grail Mojo' and ' Awesome Tone'. Which is why it probably popped into your mind (no offence intended). But if you're still worried you might be losing your mind, I have a sure fire but very secret test. Just send me £200 and I'll tell you what's involved. EssentialTension
If it's a 'Silver Series' shouldn't it have 'Silver Series' written on the point of the headstock and be made in Japan not Korea? People seem to think 'Silver Series' = silver logo. You see a lot of people talking about 'gold series' as well.
EssentialTension
Mind you the serial checks out as made in Japan (Fuji-gen plant) not Korea as stated on the headstock.
Musky
There were S serial squiers coming out of Korea around 1989. I think I've got info bookmarked somewhere...

However the headstock must be correct and it is a 1989 Samick built Korean Squier and not Japanese Silver Series. Musky
The guitar dater site only cater for US, Japanese and Mexican Fenders and not Squiers, so that'll be why it's throwing up Fuji Gen. But yes, definitely not a Silver Series. Edited November 28, 2008 by Musky
