The Funk Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I've heard people work their way through this classic at some of the funkier jazz or jazzier funk jam sessions around London. Does anyone fancy sharing some tips/advice/info on this tune for me? Quote

But I noticed it, and I know I'm a novice bassist, but umm..I had some free time, so I wrote this out as sheet music. I don't know if that would help you at all. But I have it, and I also added in the places where you should improv as well..um..so, if you want that, or if anyone else does, I can post it up here. Or if you don't like sheet music and just want tabs, I think I can change it into tabs (not so sure on that though since I've never written them before). So anyway..just trying to help. mhuk Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Share it as notation and if you've got an mp3 clip even better Quote
BlueMarkerFumes Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 sorry if you can't read my writing (ran outta' staff paper), or there are mistakes, I normally write things in treble clef. But yeah, this should be pretty close, since there's a lot of improv in the song there are some variences but...um..I wrote in where the improv solos go. Thanks for asking this question it was fun to figure out this song. Just a side note..since I don't really know a whole lot about bass, I think you might have to move it up an octave if you don't have a 5 string. Quote

I've been meaning to learn it for a few years now but never got around to it. I love Eddie Harris' playing and was priviledged enough to see him play live back in early '96 at "The Rhythmic" in Islington - he passed away later in the year... seems a long time ago now. He was totally on form too despite his advancing years. Eddie Harris! Eddie who?! http://www.eddieharris.com/ Edited August 18, 2007 by Gwilym Quote
