BreadBin Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I am eyeing up a a headless Hohner that needs some work (5 string), either some bridge components or a whole bridge depending on what's available. I also have a 4-string needing pickup surrounds (the humbucker type). Does anyone know if these parts are available? Quote
lownote Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 The only Hohner parts source i've found is this: http://www.sonor.com/fileadmin/hohner_group/hohner/09_documents/price_lists/Spare_Guitar_Consumer.pdf Quote

Jabba_the_gut Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I spotted that 5 string too - could be a bargain!! When this is backup you should be able to get everything from here http://www.hohner-cshop.de/en/Guitar/Headless-Bass-Series/Basses-Bass-Headless-BB/Hohner-B2ADB-Headless/ Quote
Jabba_the_gut Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I should add that they have all sorts on that site- whole bridges, saddles, headpieces, leg rests etc Quote
BreadBin Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Awesome, thanks @Jabba_the_gut Yes the 5 string could be good, I've always wanted to try one of the headless Hohner basses and this looks pretty decent. Quote
BreadBin Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Although, £82 for a set of NYXL strings! Sheesh. Quote
lownote Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 ah have a headed 5 string B Bas Pro- I'm a hohner home boy. Pretty much in the top 3 of my 30 bass history was a B Bass 6 string shod with Overwater strings. Magic. Quote
BreadBin Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Was that the one you were selling recently @lownote12? I have it's 4-string brother, with Steinberger detuner bridge. Quote
lownote Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 It was/is. I had a 4 string too, only in red; great bass for what they go for. I turned it into a fretless, at which it was great, and sold it to Bryan Adam's manager. If Jabba's site find offers as much as I hope that will indeed be a discovery, as otherwise spares are as rare as hen's whatsits. 1 Quote

Always wondered about those. It is a Hammerhead It's from 2005 I think - an RB-2002. Well-made with decent hardware, its a good bass. I think they were pretty expensive new but can be picked up quite cheap now. I can't say the effect of the brass is hugely noticeable but it does sound nice. Quote
lemmywinks Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I remember reading a magazine review of those and they stuck in my mind because of the headstock thingy and the distinctive scratchplate. Looks like a nice bass. 1 Quote
BreadBin Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 Yep, should be picking it up tomorrow. Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Cool - good find. I just had no way of getting to reading any time soon! I was looking as I am going to sell my 4 string and get a 5 string, probably one of the new steinberger ones. Aliexpress is a possible source of 4 string bridges, which would give you the one that is missing. Quote
BreadBin Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 Thanks @Woodinblack - I was aware of you looking for one, it's entirely possible that I won't like it and if so was going to give you a shout Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 oh if you don't then let me know, I will get it off you like a shot. I see no reason why you shouldn't like it though, they are handy things if you are ok with the spacing and the fact you are always 2 frets further up the neck than you think! Quote
BreadBin Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 It's the spacing I might struggle with, which is why a 4 might suit me better. I will keep you posted... Quote
Jabba_the_gut Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 The Hohner page is up again. Have a look at this - they have the saddle part you're looking for. http://www.hohner-cshop.de/en/Guitar/Headless-Bass-Series/Basses-Bass-Headless-BB/Hohner-B2AV-Headless/ 1 Quote
BreadBin Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 That's bloody brilliant that is! Thanks @Jabba_the_gut I am starting to think the pickup surrounds are going to have to be made, possibly from a pickguard blank. Stainless sheet, or maybe wood are also options... Quote
Woodinblack Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 works fine here, have you got some kind of filtering? Quote
BreadBin Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 It takes me straight to the correct page. The shop isn't working yet though! Quote
BreadBin Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 It's all working now, except the one part I need! I have emailed them to see what the crack is... You can buy the B-bass 4 bridge with the drop tuner on there - not cheap though at €175 😱 Quote
