missis sumner
I really like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mahalo-Travel-Bass-Solid-Electric-Ukulele-Ash-Finish-Gig-Bag-RRP-299-99-/292601105790?hash=item4420628d7e Cheaper than than a Kala (I already have two of these...), and it's neck-through. Has anyone tried the Mahalo?
Linus27
Hello missis sumner, Linus from SELOC here 😁 Ive looked at this Uku bass and nearly bought one but ended up getting a Kala Rumber at a great price. I do really like the Mahalo and may treat myself one day still. Let me know if you get one.
missis sumner
Hello Linus! Fancy seeing you here... I have a Rumbler, and a red SUB. I like the acoustic aspect of the Rumbler, but don't much like the strings, so I've put silver strings on the SUB - what a difference! If I buy the Mahalo (and it's a big IF, but I haven't bought a bass for a while...), I'd be looking to put "proper" strings on it. I'll update the thread if I get one. Linus27
Nice one, I have a Rumbler and a SUB as well 😁 I've got Aquila Silver Rumblers on my Rumbler Uku and they are brilliant. Likewise, I will update as well if I buy one 😁

Andy_L
Nothing useful to add except another Seloc 👋
missis sumner
Hello Andy_L! I've not much to add either really, other than I'm a forgetful idiot... I bought a spare set of "Silver Rumblers" ages ago (I like to have spares). They are exactly the same as the ones that came on the Rumbler i.e. dark grey and rubbery. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zjQ_TfLIxS37Gal64YG6WdTCv6r-YCcC/view?usp=sharing Thankfully I've realised this before I've gone out and bought another set. The stings I've put on the SUB are different - they're silver plated roundwounds, I believe made especially for the SUB, and not to be fitted to the acoustic Rumbler? These are the ones: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i9zsCcYEQ3CRwmxAvUa5dKX9er5oaJpE/view?usp=sharing Can anyone confirm this - or are there now metallic strings available for the acoustic, as well? MrCrane
Metallic strings for the acoustic have been available for a number of years. (Finding them used to be trickier though). for example: https://www.thomann.de/gb/pyramid_bass_ukulele_strings.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/kala_metal_round_wound_4.htm

But I'm sure there was a note somewhere that said they were only suitable for the SUB and not for the acoustic? Or was I dreaming? Edit: This is probably what I've seen: https://www.thomann.de/gb/pyramid_509.200_bass_ukulele_set.htm?ref=glp_alar_371112_2 "for use on solid body Ubass" Edited June 26, 2018 by missis sumner
