Some of my gear is way above budget, but would give ideas. Ashdown CTM100, Fender Bassman 135, Ashdown spyder 330, two notes lebass, barefaced Big Baby cab. Paul. Im yet to use it in anger, but the sound I’m getting in the house is very promising. £105 delivered! Might be a good cheap yet highly effective option for you. Yeah I reckon that would be good. I'm gonna do some shopping around for heads and see what the situation is. Thanks for the tip!
Pea Turgh
The for sale sections here are ace - could’ve saved myself a packet doing my homework then shopping here!
hooky_lowdown
As the OP is starting out, it’s worth remembering the more speaker surface area, the louder the sound. Any cab less than a 410 is worthless in a screamo band imho.
Jack
Rock, trebley, grindy, cheap? All of this screams Ashdown MAG surely? Not a problem to find 300W heads, 8x10s and 4x10s all for that budget.
pete.young
Peavey TVX, if you don't mind the weight these are great cabs and can be picked up relatively cheaply.
tstephens
Thanks everyone. I think there's a good enough consensus here that the Peavey 410 TVX is what I'll aim for. As for Ashdown MAG stuff, is it all good? Am I looking only for the valve ones? As an aside, I'm picking up a Boss LS2 tonight to see if it will help me beef up the low end a bit when I stomp my DS1. edit: Thinking of this specifically Edited August 15, 2018 by tstephens
naxos10
I was thinking of suggesting that one as I read through the post. Put it with one of Lozz's Ashdown cabs in the classifieds and you will be well away.
big rob
HI I have a TC electronic RS410 for sale if it helps?
ern500evo
I had, in fact I still have, an early Ashdown ABM500 evo, I used that thought lots of different cabs and it was always plenty loud enough for a 4/5 piece rock band. They can be picked up pretty cheaply too
