Happy Jack Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 I remember WaterOfTyne once mentioning that there was a local tribute act named Joanne Joanne (it really needs a Geordie accent) and I've always kept an eye out for tribute bands with names that crack me up. I've just seen that a local club (Tropic Of Ruislip) has next month the band SNOG - a tribute to Kiss. 1 Quote
chris_b Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 I always liked Howlin' Wilf, although he wasn't really a tribute act. 3 1 Quote
DaytonaRik Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 A friend of mine has always wanted to form a mariachi band covering rock bands called Juan Jovi! I'd pay to see that, I really would! 2 Quote
WinterMute Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Proxy Music is an obvious stand-out. Blobby Williams? Deft Leppard? Lez Zeppelin? All real apparently... Quote
Osiris Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Not a tribute band as such but I've always thought my mates band name was superb, but you have to say it with a Yorkshire accent; 2 Quote

WinterMute Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Al Murray used to play in a Jewish heavy metal band called Guns n Moses. It wasn't very PC... Their set appeared to be a very loud and fast version of Hava nagila... Quote

This wasn't a tribute band either but I believe Wilf started in Ken Dodd's Dad's Dog's Dead. One of my favourite band names. Quote
Derek1071 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 I’m sure the Glaswegian Steps tribute act was called Stairs. Again, a local accent helps! Quote
