Is it flame walnut or ' Imbuia' ?... looks to be the same bass:- https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/290020-sold-sandberg-panther-special-5-string-imbuia/?tab=comments#comment-3111905 1
HumblePie Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 (edited) Imbuia is "brazilian walnut", this is a rare piece of flamed imbuia. It is indeed the same bass. With the rarewood top and pearl inlays, this was 2500€/2200£ new. Edited June 28, 2018 by HumblePie
DoubleOhStephan Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Thank god this is a fiver or my Mrs would be seriously unhappy with me! GLWTS 2
HumblePie Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 Maybe a Fender P or J, not much else really.
NancyJohnson Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Just an observation, even if the B-string is in tune, to my ears it isn't intonating properly, it's a little flat. You need to move the saddle forward a bit; if you're unable to do a full setup, at least bring it forward so the saddle follows the diagonal manner of the other strings. 1
HumblePie Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 Thanks for the heads up, the video was done by the former owner, I already did a full setup. 1
cattytown Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 I have a Sandberg Panther Special 4 stringer - NOT for sale. These are blooming lovely! GLWTS! 1

As the ‘previous owner’ I’d say the two As on the B string sound ok to me! Not sure you can gauge intonation by looking 1
HumblePie Posted July 10, 2018 Author Posted July 10, 2018 Anyway, I think that your video shows all the essential tones you can get really well, so thank you for that.
Jaykingfunk Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I’m guessing you’re not interested in a trade for a Sandberg California VM5?! 1
