Have you checked the finger board for consistant level and radius no there is a coating?

The board was flat and consistant to start with and 10 thin coats of the coating flatted back is probably between 0.5 mm and 1 mm. I use a big sanding block and I am very careful when hand finishing. It has been checked with a straight-edge and all seems fine. Proof will be in the playing and any irregularities will be obviously be sorted out although I see no reason for there to be any.
