tom1946
Ok so my YOB is 1946, what bass could I possibly get? Excluding Double basses.
Bridgehouse
You’re going to struggle... nothing that would be similar to our concept of an electric bass today.. How about a significant birthday like 18 or 21, so 1964 or 1967?
Steve Browning
You could get a Tutmarc for your year.
HazBeen
I’d go Kay M1 upright, or thinking outside the box have a luthier build me a bass from wood (tree, old furniture etc ) dating to that year?
tom1946
Interesting ideas there, I'd have to find a tree.....I think I like Bridgehouse's idea best so far. Thanks for that.
AndyTravis
What about the year you started playing bass?

Some Oak trees don't start having acorns until they're 50 years old. Nice thought though.
kodiakblair
Tom you could get a replica built of the Paul Tutmarc Jnr Serenador bass. I know the fella who restored Paul Snr's Audiovox for a museum,he should still have his notes.

Paulhauser
Or just exchange the last two digits of your birth year (46 to 64) and you will have choices at least. Good hunting!
DarkHeart
Do what I did, get a custom builder to build you a bass and have the serial number as your birthdate.

Len_derby
Hi Tom, I somehow made it to 60 last month, and considered buying a YOB bass as a special treat. Looking around at what was available from 1958 I decided that a better option was to commission our own AndyJr1515 to build me one. It looks like it's going to come in at about 6 and a half pounds in weight, Andy being a master at making light instruments.
Woodinblack
You just know that is going to end up better than anything they made in 1958!

tom1946
Some great ideas here, I love that guitar Graham. I like the idea of having one built with my birthdate as the serial number I started playing bass when my arthur ritis started in 2010..... that's an easy one.
