dazza14
My band have been recording at a local studio where the software being used is 'Studio One'. The sound engineer fella is really a hobbyist so recording the stuff is fine but mixing it down is something he is less experienced in but he's mentioned he can export the files to anybody with the same software so it can be fiddled with (improved). Does anybody here have the software/skills/inclination to do this?

If your bloke has the latest version (v4, I believe...), the project may be exported as 'AAF' files, which many DAW's can import (Protools, Cubase etc, but not Reaper...). If his version is earlier than that, only Studio One can read 'em. Hope this helps. Edit: The 'Artist' version costs £93 from Amazon.co.uk; might be worth investing..? adamg67
Studio One can export all the recorded tracks for you to import them individually into any DAW you like. It will do them all in one go, I can't remember the exact menu option, it's something like "export stems" - your guy should know how to do that. AAF is convenient but you can do it without. I've got Studio One Pro v4 (it's really good), but typically I'm away for a few weeks from next week.
roman_sub
Yes just get him to bounce down the individual WAVs per song; just making sure they are exactly the same length (start/end at same point) - then anyone can work on them, with any software. may be best if these are exported without any processing. i would be willing to work on the mix, if I could have unprocessed WAVs - pm me for details. adamg67
If they are exported as stems from Studio One they will all have the same start point.
