For me, it was more like getting used to one bass and then expanding my pallet. Getting used to my first 5 string took me 2 years of practice and gigs before i relaxed. After I learnt to relax on 5 I picked up a double bass, then synth, then baritone, etc... It's a process, I think the key is to keep pushing yourself and challenge your comfort zone.  It takes serious amount of time to get yah body to do what your mind wants. Keep the faith!

I remember in 80's seeing a band called Parker (i think that was there name) doing Black Dog by Zep and the bass player was using one of those Staccato basses. What a fantastic tone he had and it still sticks in my head to this day.

They were a ltd Japanese market-only release and are VERY rare now, particularly in good condition..... and especially with recent importation problems due to CITES. I got them for reasonable prices pre-CITES and my ultimate aim is to have two of them refinished/resprayed in other colours/graphics. :)

Sadly they didn't go too far Dave. No sad ending though 🙂  Gregg Parker runs the Blues Museum in Chicago and Tony Saunders (bass fella) has kept busy. I exchanged a few emails with him,said he had fond memories of the Parker days.

That blue modulus is broken - I’ll fix it for you, I’m an expert in graphite neck repairs...that’s goosed mate. I can see that from the photo...

What I have is mostly 5ers. Recently went from overall 10 basses down to just 5. That Schecter CV-5 rendered all my non-Musicman 5ers obsolete, sold them all (except for that "diy or die" red one, originally a thomann P kit my wife gifted me, an ongoing Frankenstein with no resale value, its value is the ongoing DIY adventure, went thru' different stages until its current form, a reverse P+J 5er). Also got rid of a uke-bass, most useless and ridiculous piece of gear I've ever spent my hard earned cash on (closely followed by both ABGs I've owned, SO useless). Looks like "maturity" is sorta' getting me. Haven't departed from my ceramic Stingray 5ers for almost 2 decades, that's what I love to play and sound like, the bar with which I measure all other 5ers. The only other thing I'll eventually needed is a decent "Fender killer" 5er (with a usable low B -unlike Fenders-) on the aggressive side that plays as close to my Rays as possible, for eventual Fender'ish duties, and I found that in the CV-5 (after trying and owning LOTS of attempts, including many real expensive ones). Don't need much else really.
