Archetype
Hi All,# I have an odd problem with my Rick at the moment where the A# on the first string just dies. every other fret plays fine but on the first string the first three frets up to that A# have a little rattle then the A# just rattles and dies quickly. no sustain on it at all. Any suggestions on what this could be? Gordon
paul_5
Is the 7th fret (the actual metal fret) higher than the rest? Edited August 5, 2018 by paul_5
ikay
Has it always done this or is it something new, since you last changed strings for example? Could be a dead spot, but that's something you would probably have noticed before. To eliminate that possibility, try resting the headstock up against something solid like a door frame and then play the A# on the G string. If the dead note goes away (or shifts up a few frets) that would indicate a dead spot. If no change then it's something else.
Archetype
I'll see if I can check the fret heights. I don't recall it being there before. But then to be fair it has had the original strings on it since I bought it in March so they are due to be replaced.
