BB King “Lucille” - Epiphone
£375

Recommended Posts

It pains me to do this but I’m a Strat player at heart and this is doing very little at home on its own.

Its an immaculate condition B.B. King Lucille model. Made in Korea, it’s a lovely instrument.

I bought this as a jazz guitar and it excels at that. The action is good, and the sounds you can make exquisite.

The bridge is a much more solid contraption than the type you’d normally find on an Epiphone dot. It’s got the lovely inlays and there’s enough gold on this to satisfy B.B. King or Kanye West. The Grover timers are solid and all in all this is a beauty.

Condition wise it’s lovey. It’s been played very little by me and always treated with care. There is some minor pitting / discolouration on the 6-way selector and a few minor marks on the pickups too. There are no marks to the glossy black finish.

Im selling as I have a few strats and a PRS and this guitar always seems a target for my aggressive daughter. I’ve stopped her (so far), but it’s always a struggle!

These set necks are notoriously fragile so it’s collection only. I have a Kingsman case that fits but you need to support the neck so it’s not really suitable for shipping.

Price is £375.

Always interested in trades.

Balls. My absolute “i should buy one of those” guitars.

got nowt to offer in trade of any cash which means I’ll have to fester in an annoyed fashion.

And you’re in Bristol and want collection which eases the issue.

Don’t worry Andy, one will turn up when you’ve got some cash I’m sure. They’re really nicely made guitars. I’ve been very surprised, and pleased with it. I could never justify the expense of Gibson, but this gets me as close as I needed. Sad to see it go, but hope someone will love it.

I’ve sent a message to @JimBobTTD who was lusting after a Gibson version or similar - I was trying to convince him that the Epiphone Lucille wasn’t £1000’s Worth of difference.

Used to work for an epi/Gibson dealer and I compared the Korean and Memphis versions.

Acoustic volumes aside, there was a negligible difference and the epi was £2500 cheaper at the time.
