What is a ‘rear mounted’ magnetic pick up?

It’s a magnetic pickup that is installed via the rear of the body and is just underneath the neck section through the centre of the body. Think of it in the same way as a pickup installed inside a ramp. I think this is such an elegant way of having pickups on the bass without big black plastic soap bars on show.

Thanks. I’m trying to work out if an ebow would work with this pick up design? Bizarre, I know.

An Ebow will work without any problem as it's like having a wood cover for your pickup. All you have to do is locate the pickup to use your effect properly. And it will even be easier to have great sustain effects as the fretboard runs up to the bridge, so the sliding will be effortless. 😉

There's no reason why it shouldn't as an elbow doesn't rely on the pickup to operate. :)
