The59Sound
Can anyone recommend some decent chrome polish? My Jazz bass needs some TLC!
T-Bay
Autosol is very good, available from any decent motor factor or eBay.
Bridgehouse
Is it def. chrome or is it nickel?
Hellzero
The best automotive product and all kind of polishes are Meguiar's : https://www.meguiars.com
Hellzero
That said, the good old Sidol works perfectly for any type of metal, I even used it to polish the Delta metal of my Vigier fretless board with a mirror shining effect. And it's really cheap, I still have a 50's yellow metal can with the coumpound still working !?! Here by Amazon, but should be found anywhere : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Henkel-ml-150-Sidol-150-ml/dp/B008BGYSUI/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1534231842&sr=8-2&keywords=Sidol

Pretty sure it's chrome - the control plate, bridge, machine heads... they're all too shiny for me to think they're nickel.

If they stay shiny over time then most likely chrome

gary mac
Peek polish is the one that I use on mine and customer's instruments. Brilliant stuff.

The59Sound
Once the paste has been rubbed on, do you need a second rub with a clean rag to get it off?

PawelG
I used aluminum foil - the one from the kitchen! Use the shiny side and it works wonders on chrome.
HazBeen
Toothpaste works really well, the simple white non gel version! A little on a clean damp cloth, apply thin layer, then rub off with clean dry cloth and presto. Edited August 14, 2018 by HazBeen
LITTLEWING
Brasso and kitchen roll.
Delberthot
Is it to make it shiny or to clean gunk off it? If the latter then strip the bass and fire all of the chromework into a tub of cola for a few hours. It's amazing how quickly and effectively it cleans chrome. Leaves it looking like new again
