missis sumner
I've just bought a very cheap Ibanez SRX 390 on Ebay, and after a little maintenance it's sounding quite nice. It has a battery, and therefore I had assumed it's an active bass. However I've found a 2008 catalogue that suggests that it has "extra powerful PASSIVE full range pickups". It has high and low equalisers, so is the battery just running these? Link to catalogue: The reason I'm asking is, our rehearsal room has a Hartke amp, with two inputs - one passive, one active. So which one should I be plugging this bass in to? Sorry for the silly question, but It's all electrickery to me!
John Cribbin
The pickups are passive, but it has an active EQ which is what the battery powers. So you need to plug it into the active input. If the EQ happened to die, you could remove the old module and happily have it wired as a passive bass if you chose.
missis sumner
Thank you. That's confirmed my understanding. 😋
