Hi everyone

Just a quick one for you lot as I'm finding nothing. Does anyone know where to get the rack ears for a Trace Elliot Gp12 SMX or does anyone on here have any they're willing to part with? I have a GP12 SMX but it didn't come with the wooden sleeve and I'd like to rack mount it for protection.

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks

When I looked previously I couldn't find anybody that stocked them. You could try here, but don't hold your breath.

I tried them recently and they didn't have any listed at all. Fired them an email and got no reply either. Just double checked and there's none on there unfortunately :/

I'm not familiar with that amp, but have you considered a 2U rack tray as an alternative. If the amp is open-topped you couldd use the tray upside down.

Hi David, the amp is totally enclosed so a rack tray wouldn't work. I have done that before with a previous Trace Elliot I had though that was open topped :)

You could always get a couple of Aluminium Angle Brackets of eBay, (other suppliers are available), and trim them to fit. Something like this.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Size-63-75mm-HD-Aluminium-Angles-Corner-Braces-Mending-Brackets-Greenhouse/271170679373?var=570145918288&hash=item3f2308324d:m:mO810e5_SFMIrrX-xRwsPwA

I did this a while back to fit a MarkBass head into a non-standard amp sleeve and it worked a treat. The Aluminium is easy to work with and I sprayed them black when I'd finished "fettling".

Previously I've added (steel) rack ears to equipment - not specifically designed for the particular unit but with the apertures for the rack screws in place and maybe a few of predrilled holes in the sides for attaching the unit - but you might have to improvise there depending on the material / construction of the amp.
