gjones
I have a friend who is thinking about buying a 72 Jazz Bass. The seller is looking for £2500 (a price based on a quick look at andy Baxter's webpage) but my experience of seeing basses, of a similar vintage for sale on basschat, makes me think a price around £1500 to £1800 is nearer to the mark? Here's some pictures.

bassbiscuits
I think that's fair as a shop price (Andy Baxter's being an actual bricks and mortar shop, in London no less) for a bass like that, IF it was in very good condition. But those dice stickers would need to come off without leaving a mark, and the thumbrest has been moved too. Would need to see the condition in more detail to see if it justifies that top-end price. I'd guess £1,750-£2,000 as a private sale.

Shame about the sticker and the moved thumb rest. Thinking about it more, unless it's an amazing sounding and playing bass, I'd probably pass on it. jezzaboy
The placement of that thumb rest and the holes that would be left if removed would put me right off. And for a private sale they are asking far to much.
BigRedX
It looks as though the sunburst hasn't discoloured in the same way under the clear portion of the sticker, so even if you could get it off without damaging the finish, it's previous presence will always be noticeable. That might just be dirt as opposed to decolouration of the sunburst.....but I agree that it will leave a 'shape' upon first removing it. bassbiscuits
None of this cosmetic stuff is the end of the world of course - it could well be an awesome bass, for which you'd happily put up with these small flaws. But as a vintage-era bit of kit, the price should reflect that.

burno70
That sticker takes off a couple of hundred quid from the asking price alone. The seller would do well to remove it - but then if the finish comes of with it, eesh!
stu_g
That picture of the neckplate seems to show the neck at a weird angle?maybe it's just the angle it was taken at.

Front view shows neck alignment a bit better and looks fine to me. Edited August 21, 2018 by ikay

Yes, I thought that too. As iKay says though, it looks fine from the front Must be the angle the photo was taken at

gareth
I'd snap the sellers hand off for a reasonable condition 72 Jazz at £2000
