Greetings

I have what seems to be buzz that's coming from inside of the neck. I could be wrong.

It's most prominent unplugged and on the lower open notes.

This is on my new P Bass and it hasn't resolved after a week's worth of playing.

I've also noticed that getting the E in tune is a bit of a bugger.

Could this be truss rod related?

Have you tried giving the trussrod a small tweak (say 1/8 turn clockwise) to make sure it's under tension?

Check the tuners, sometimes a loose one of them is the culprit.

Yep, I had this on one bass, turned out to be one of the fixing screws on the back was slightly loose and was vibrating/rattling.

Hmm, doesn't seem to be the tuners.

Also, I can't seem to get the allan key in 😑

I'll need a longer one than I have lying around...

Next cause could be amount of windings on the peg - with strings with silks on the end I used to cut them at 10cm and this was ok. When I changed to strings without silks, just the metal ends I had to up it to 15cm, as similarly used to get a buzzing that seemed to come from inside the neck on both E & A strings.

Is the nut cut too low on those strings? That could result in a slight rattle on 1st fret.

That was why I was asking if it was a new bass. Like you, I was wondering about the nut.

Hi All

It's a new bass - as in, brand new.

I'm now going to have it professionally set up this weekend, so hopefully this will be resolved following that!

Thanks
