My little band do it like this but stripped down to guitar/bass/drum. I really like Christopher Cross' 'Ride Like The Wind'. But I also like this cover by Saxon. Not keen on Biff's voice, never have been, but the riff seems to flow nicely as heavy rock And here is one that is kind of reverse - famous cover of little known original but I actually prefer the original - at least how he plays it live. 'Rio De Janeiro Blue' was a massive hit for Randy Crawford but written by a guy called Richard Torrance. Again my little band does this, lovely to play. I enjoy both All Saints and RHCP versions. And unless I heard wrong, Flea was involved in the All Saints.

Oh my, that Tommy Blaze version (and bass line by Trevor Barry) is SOOOO much better than the way we do it!! 27 minutes ago, Paul S said: yes, everything the Duffy version lacks. Not sure the cover would have had anything like the same impact / following if it had been the original. OP - great thread!
Grangur
Hey, here's the original version of "Word up". I like this and the cover. Edit: Wrong! Cameo was the original. Edited September 15, 2018 by Grangur

Most of the tracks have some creative/unusual arrangements. Quite a lot of vocal tech fx going on as well.
