Big Favour - Aguilar Octamizer Internal Measurements

Recommended Posts

Hey guys & gals,

I’m starting work on a very special project and have a favour to ask of those of you who own an Aguilar Octamizer - could you measure the dimensions of the circuit board inside the pedal for me please? And, if possible, post a photo too? I’ll be forever indebted to you and if all goes to plan the end result will be incredibly cool!

The actual measurements are much more important than the photo.

Thanks in advance,
Cameron

Are you getting a custom build and sticking an Octamizer in it?

If nobody beats me too it I can do this for you tomorrow. Good excuse to get the board out of the cupboard storage :)

No worries mate. I can't wait to see how your new build turns out 😋

I tried to get some shots of the underside so you can gauge the boards thickness. There's 3 caps on the underside whish when you remove/move the pots and Jacks would be the thickest part of the board. Whick isn't very thick!

Best of luck!

@GisserD I don’t suppose you could measure the height of the board could you? As per email below, which for some reason went to my spam folder and I’ve only just seen...

So the measurements are in....

Let's call it 30mm

Although most of that is made up of the jack sockets, which surely won't be used?? And the pots, which could be mounted anywhere. Even the power connector won't be used as id expect it to be hard wired??

Removal of the aforementioned parts would make the board 16mm deep at the largest cap. But even those could be removed easily and "laid down" if it was to make the difference.

Just my 2p tho. I'm sure the guys building it are way more competent than I at this sorta stuff. I can't wit to see how it goes!!

Andy’s (WingBass) response below:

“We’d prefer not to do any desoldering and removal of components as that introduces the potential of destroying the circuit, and these are expensive. With the POG we don’t have to do any disassembly. That being said, I’m traveling on the West Coast and will return tomorrow so I can measure the depth of the cavity to determine if there is room.

I will let you know for sure at that time.”

Makes sense I guess - I’d prefer it if no Octamizers were harmed in the making of this bass 😂

Your going to be skinning it alive!!!

Looks like it’s going to be too deep for the control cavity - I’m seeing if they’d be willing to go down the desoldering route. I’ve even suggested buying a couple of used Octamizers for them to use as test units!

i had a close look before i reassembled mune and those surface mounted components are really easy to remove. any hobbiest with a soldering iron and a solder sucker could do it without destroying anything. or even risking anything for that matter!!

i really hope you can find a way to make it work as everybody knows its the best octaver. anything else would just be settling!!

Best of luck!
