althebassman Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 After searching both threads and shops I've narrowed my two choices to Dunlop Super Bright Nickels and Rotosound Swing Bass 66 Nickels in 40-120 gauges. I'm currently on a bit of a Matthew Garrison hype while also being on a sub £30 budget and was wondering which string would be best to help me get that more growly tone without dying too quickly since I've managed to find pros for both e.g. read that the rotos are quite aggressive sounding but also warm while a bunch of the modern jazz guys use the super brights Quote
project_c Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I’d say go for DR HiBeams, might be just over your budget but will last a lot longer than either of those, and they are very nice on a jazz for the tone you’re after. Quote
The59Sound Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I would say DR too but try the Sunbeams. Quote
