Cuzzie
https://www.darkglass.com/creations/hyper-luminal/ well we all knew one was coming, and the fact they stopped making the SS this comes as no surprise it’s a compressor. Compressor haters, turn away now, this thread is not for you
nash
Smaller footprint finally
Bigwan
Very interesting feature set, and perhaps a hint of things to come on other DG pedals.
Cuzzie
It’s all going to be related to their online Neural DSP stuff they are pushing as their way forward
CameronJ
At last a Darkglass pedal I would actually consider buying! It’s gonna be perilously expensive though, as usual 😩
Cuzzie
About 230 I think, that’s dollars, not sure what conversion to sterling

Cuzzie
If they nail the 3 compressors it would be good The Logic is awesome, Urei - Say no more and the SS if you like a very warm sound

I far prefer nice real keys, buttons and knobs. I am also mindful of how easily I have accidentally liked pictures on facebook etc 🙂

These are in the side. im guessing once the patch cables are in there will be zero difference.
HazBeen
Not sure it would make me sell my Keeley compressor pro, but I like the idea and premise. Very good options and approach. Edited August 27, 2018 by HazBeen

krispn
Buy a SS used, give it a few months to become ‘collectible’ and then buy two DG pedals with the cash 😛
Jonse
Like darkglass but sticking with the diamond methinks.
Cuzzie
@krispn I wonder though if by ‘capturing’ the SS sound they have stopped that from happening?

fretmeister
https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-effects/bass-compressor-pedals/darkglass-hyper-luminal-hybrid-compressor Andertons showing at £235. That's quite a bit under the Origin Cali CB Deluxe - and if the suite allows greater control then the DG could be great. I really like my Cali Bass but I would prefer separate Attack and Release controls. Edited August 29, 2018 by fretmeister
dannybuoy
Shame it's not multiband, I can't go back to single band compressors now I have been spoilt by the Spectracomp! Looks awesome though, touch controls show the future of what we might see in the range - I did say I'd like to see a system like the TC RH750's knobs and these look even better with no moving parts. The blurb suggests they were not aware of the Sonuus Voluum though, which is the first compressor with a digital sidechain and analog signal path that I'm aware of! The Hyper Luminal Compressor features the first hybrid design in a compressor pedal: an analog VCA controlled by a digital side-chain allowed us to capture and include the characters of some of the most legendary compressors in history while keeping the signal path completely analog. Musicman20
So, just to clarify, it is an analog compressor, controlled digitally?
Cuzzie
I suppose there is some digital wizardry
