I bought a fretless Stingray in the US several years ago.  Great build quality and solid tone.  Haven't tried a Sterling, but this one's a beauty.  I take it the slider control is for coil tap/ humbucker modes?  What year is your bass?

The slider,, iirc, is for series-parallel-single coil. Makes for a hell of a flexible instrument. Good luck with the sale, my friend. If I had the money.......
