alyctes
Can anyone suggest a source? Fretless preferred, but not essential Alternatively, what brands/makes use 22-fret necks? Thanks folks
songofthewind
Yah, and that would fit a Sub Ray 4 body, please! Ta.
alyctes
I suppose I could try something barbarous and find a 24-fret I could shorten... 😮 Would the trussrod be too long, though?
Paul S
A Westone Thunder Jet had 22 frets, fabulous necks, too. I believe some of the later 1A models also sported 22 frets. Might be possible to get either as just necks.

alyctes
That's what I thought. Thanks, that's a lot cheaper than trying it

Also the Yamaha RBX200, which is why I'm asking... it's not worth spending a lot on a £100 bass, sadly. dadagoboi
Most Ibanez basses, even the GIO series have 22 fret necks. They're well made, although the headstocks are ugly IMO. Cheap enough second hand to buy one just for the neck, tuners, and odd bits.
BreadBin
Kmise make Fender fit necks with an overhanging fingerboard and 22 frets - is that what you are looking for?

I did a quick search and could only come up with 22 for their bass necks. Warmoth has an optional 24 fret overhang board on Fender heel necks that can be cut back to 22.. I was going to do that for a customer who then decided to keep the full 24. It's a $25 option on a minimum $200 USD custom neck, though. alyctes
Thanks, gentlemen. Unfortunately the Kmise won't do because I am looking for something where the neck itself is 22 frets ' worth long - any overhang would have to be on top of that. I'll have a look at second-hand Ibanez.
6feet7
I had a 22 fret neck made by Keisel/Carvin in the USA. It was cheaper than I could get made for me in the UK (even after import duty etc).
Geek99
AliExpress do 22 feet necks with various headstocks
BreadBin
I imagine a 6.7m neck is going to be a bit of a stretch to play. Neck dive may be an issue too...

itsmedunc
Westone Thunder 2 and 3 series have fretless models in the range. Fabulous basses too. BC'er Roger2611 has one I believe. alyctes
Sadly, it's not a Fender-standard body. Ah well. Maybe I should just put it back in the attic... I did notice that a Tanglewood Overwater has a 22-fret neck.
