Do you play this? How? I notice the suggested bass in the Real Book is quite different from the Coltrane recording. Which one do you do or do you do something quite different?

Which Real book are you talking about?
Kenny Baron's Spiral has part of the bass line transcribed in The New Real Book.

John Coltrane's Spiral is in The Real book II and doesn't have a suggested bass line. (see below)

Both are completely different compositions (with the same name)
