dyerseve
Hard to describe why but I love this! Build quality is beyond belief!! https://reverb.com/item/7074967-kd-earthquake-4-string-handmade-unique-rare-boutique
TheGreek
Reminiscent of the multi-coloured jigsaw puzzle bass by a Dutch builder. Can't find photos - they were on the weird bass thread but may have disappeared as it was a while ago.
Bassassin
That's astonishingly well-crafted and meticulously detailed, a genuinely jaw-droppoing level of craftsmanship. It's also really, really ugly.
songofthewind
Strangely reminiscent of a map of the USA.

Happy Jack
Truly lovely piece of marquetry but really not sure what it's actually for? The whole 'Earthquaker' thing makes little sense on what sounds like a fairly standard 4-string bass, no matter how pretty it may be. Newfoundfreedom
If you knocked off the last zero it would still be too expensive. 😂
fleabag
I like it people ! I wouldn't pay that though, but it's meticulously built. I bet that took some time

Newfoundfreedom
If the demo video is anything to go by. That's almost 6 grand for something that sounds like a wet fart. Edited September 9, 2018 by Newfoundfreedom
EmmettC
It looks stunning, what an amazing amount of work.

He appears to have taken down his site so there's very little information about his instruments out there any more other than what other people have saved or written. Bleat
Well ...I had a listen over some Audio Technica ATH M50X ' phones and.... yep it sounded like shite to be fair... very generic sounding in fact, and this "let's play some harmonics and finger pick a few chords"....really gets on my m'oobs to be honest... "baby"? " parents"! ? it's a bit o' wood pal! As much as I can truly appreciate the *insane* amount of skill it must take to make something like this, I feel these sort of basses are nothing more than attention seeking conversation / lifestyle pieces for people with more money than sense. All this is just personal opinion of course ! 😀

You wont like those either
Bleat
fleabag , If you mean those instruments with big long metal dildo looking things stuck to each side … then yes, I dislike them too 🤪

spectoremg
Have Warwick sued them yet? It's a Thumb with spiky bits.

prowla
It's a bit too parquet for me.
CameronJ
If the body shape were less divisive the patchwork contruction would work better IMO. As it is, there’s just too much going on. Edited September 18, 2018 by CameronJ
Bassassin
Couldn't agree more. It's the shape which makes it a very ugly bass - I really like the actual woodwork.
alyctes
Precisely. The body shape does it no favours at all.
dyerseve
I agree too - the design is already so "busy" that it doesnt need to have an unusual shape too.
