oldslapper Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 "crudely modified" One man's butchery is another man's "modification".🤡 Quote
dyerseve Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Ok so it's more gormless than fretless but for the money it will probably sound bloody good if you can live with the looks... Quote
TheGreek Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Don't take it out in public though - you'll get arrested for "cruelty to instruments". 2 Quote
Bassassin Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Considering Thunder IIs are typically around the £300 mark, that's a damn good price for a project/ resto. Quote

It's what's under that intriguing scratch plate that bothers me. Routing may well have been done with a sharp spoon and a shovel and then there's the two cracks that look to be have been caused by the bridge screws being hammered in. I know it's cheap but even if it's a complete lemon it would never make an ornament either. 😂 Quote
itsmedunc Posted September 12, 2018 Author Posted September 12, 2018 To be honest, I'm not convinced it's a Thunder II at all. I didn't think that any of the Thunder 2 or 3 were bolt on neck? I think it's either a Thunder 1a fretless or some sort of a Thunder Jet project or maybe a hybrid of the 2 and an old raft found on the canal. Quote
Bassassin Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Just had a proper look at the pics (I was on my phone earlier) and that's a Thunder 1A, probably a Jet with the finish taken off. Ignore my earlier remark - it's a wreck! 1 Quote
spectoremg Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Wow, I mean Thunder's were Fugly to start with! Quote
