Ian Davies
Hello I have a question for all you EBS Microbass II users. I’ve just got the pedal after wanting one for years and love the sound and quality. I tried it out jamming to a backing track from my laptop going into the FX returns and playing my bass with headphones. When I turned up the FX mix control to get more volume form my laptop it turned the bass level down. Is this normal? I did manage to balance everything so it was all ok but it just seems a bit of an odd way round to wire it. I was expecting the FX mix control to simple add in more or less of whatever was plugged into the FX return, be it a FX pedal or aux signal, without effecting the bass level. Ian Davies
I emailed EBS with the same question and got a great response, I'm sure it is fine to re-post here and may help others: "The FX Mix filter is a blend control between the Effects loop and the original tone, so if you run a backingtrack through the loop, it will balance the output between what you put in the loop and what you play. 100% will make you only hear the backtracks, 50% will give you a 50/50 balance between bass and tracks, and so on. So, find a balance and then turn up the master output if needed is my advice. If you run effects through the loop, this makes more sense, since then you can preserve some of the original tone for more low end if using effects that steal some of the bottom. In that case, you also feed the effects with the Effect Send, so the Return signal also contain some of your bass tone but with the effects." Thanks to EBS for being a great company with exemplary customer service.
paulo m
Hi Ian.. Excellent post ive been singing the praises of this box for years..& its applications leave the competiton bobbing in its wake.. I was considering moving to the reidmar amps!! We have already got one!! In this little magic box... Sound engineers love the D.I tone from it' in my experience & im still finding different ways of using it... Cheers Paulo. P.s... Do not be tempted to the G.K PLEX digital pre!! as it falls way short of our microbass 2... ive just borrowed one & gave it back the Very next day!!!
