3 way toggle - 2 pickup 2 tone

Each pick up works separately, but with toggle switch in middle position, neither pickup works. I assume this means toggle faulty, as wiring to each pickup must be in place to enable each to work independently?

Any suggestions?

I'm assuming that this is a sealed unit? 

There are two types, one which is centre on, and one which is centre off. You probably have the centre off variety. If you you look carefully at the side it should be marked.

unusual to have a kill switch setting on a bass...

shouldn't be an issue to swap it for a switch that does what you want, or to get a local repairman to wire it exactly as you wish.  My local one is very used to me asking him to re-wire Les Pauls so that the volume and tone remains independent for each pick up when they are both on in the switch's middle position.

Hi guys, sorry a bit late with feedback. Thanks for comments. I have now tracked the problem to intermittent fault on switch, which I shall replace in due course. Problem is that wiring is too short to extract switch on its own, so will have to rewire all soon, with longer wires throughout, to make it easier for future work.
