I used to have a 2001 Euro 4/NSCRFM that I sold to @Aero71 Absolutely stonking bass that I still really miss. Incredible craftsmanship and tone from the EMGs and Aguilar preamp and, at the time, similar price to a Mexican Fender!

@Aero71 Definitely interested in buying that back if you ever decide to sell 😉

I'm a bit of a Spector obsessive, as @Bassulike66 and @cetera know!  I don't have any at the moment but have owned 16 over the years. Like Rickenbackers, they are an itch I sometimes just have to scratch, so I'm sure I'll own another one soon!

My favourites have been the NS2000 model. I actually prefer them over the Euro. Seller's remorse, right there.

I own an NS2000 and a Euro and you're right, the 2000 is an excellent bass.

Clearly a man of taste...EBS too..what's under the amp cover?

That is a cab cover, there are two 115 cabs from a local maker that I use and I strore them one the EBS for the time being. Prolude KO is the name and they kick donkey, lightweight, punchy and killer sounding 15"'s, totally made my rethink my gig setup. No more 2x 410 I'm afraid.... 🙂

For a while I have used an EBS Fafner II head with two EBS Proline 410 cabs

Nowadays I use a Prolude Brick head and two 115 cabs. Sounds even better than that above and weights a lot less, transports a lot easier.

What would you guys say are the main differences between an NS-2 and, say, a Euro LX-4?  I've never set eyes on a US Spector but one is on my wish list (not a green one).

I still have a Korean NS2000 (I believe) which I kept after selling a Euro LX4.

I believe the neck through NS2000 represents better VFM (if you can find one they're around £400). TBH I had trouble telling the difference (tone is in the fingertips??) between the two - I'm sure that technically the parts in the Euro are be better but by how much, I couldn't tell. The build quality on both is top notch - I think that we have Stuart to thank for that - insisting on a high standard throughout the range wherever his basses are built.

IMO the adage "you get what you pay for" isn't completely true with Spectors - you get great build quality whatever you buy. I've no doubt somebody like @cetera (who I believe may have more than one) can provide more info on the technical aspect but to me, all those I've owned or do own (three currently) have been a joy to play. Would highly recommend these to anybody, no matter the level of proficiency.

I believe @spectoremgdonated a defretted entry model to the venue we use for the Herts Bash. I thought it was very generous - played really nice.

Thanks for that.  I've owned an NS-94, the forerunner to the NS2000s, which was in itself a great bass and very well put together indeed.  This was sold and the proceeds went towards the Euro 4LX.  I'd say in terms of construction quality not much to choose between them, but I definitely prefer the active p/ups and the EQ setup on the Euro compared to the SSD humbuckers / Hazlab on the NS-94.

Ah, a familiar group of Spectors there! Welcome :)
I still want that Forte X!

Me too.

Ridiculous thing is they were selling stupid cheap used.  I saw examples at $1700.
