Paulhauser - red lettering so TW’s. Not sure what the difference is? They have coil taps on them and I quite often run them single coil and switch to twin for a solo boost.

TWs are a lot more round sounding to me than DC's. I love both, by the way and in my experience they both work well with Spectors, bringing out different traits.

DCs are the quintessential EMG dual coils with more of everything, more bass, more treble. The TW is also a dual coil pickup but coil-tappable as you have said and the magnets are different. In full-on mode it is has more prononced mids which I like and it is a bit more tamed on the low and high register and when coil tapped it sound more clean and laid back (to my ears anyway)

The 40TWs with single / dual coil tap give such a broad tonal palette with mix and match combinations thrown in. I love the variety I get from mine.

I’ve just bought 2 this past couple of weeks. I decided upon a Euro Bolt 4, and a Euro LX 4. Both have Aguilar pickups, one with the OPB-2 preamp and one with a Tone Pump preamp. Completely, and utterly enamoured with them both. They’ve had a basic set up, and need my preferred strings put on then, plus a nut adjustment, but I have recorded with them and they have blown me away. Stunning to play, and I just can’t believe I’ve not been down this route before. So happy ☺️

So as of this morning I have purchased my first Spector.  Should be with me soon.  In the meantime, lets have some Friday bass porn....  Now to go on the hunt for gold hardware!

Congrats. Great looking bass. As mentioned, I would check with Mark at Bass Direct. That's where I got my gold bridge and tuners from.

Man, killer looking bass. When I see a black gloss Spector I immediately think of Mike Starr during the Facelift tour. I know, I have shared it before but I just cannot help myself 😉 Check out from 1:23

Cheers for the comments and help everyone.  Ill wait to see it in person before deciding on chrome/gold but I do love the look of the gold hardware on black gloss.

Next decision is strings - historically for as long as I can remember ive loaded all my basses (99% of the being P basses) with flats but im looking for something different for the Spector.  Ive posted the clip numerous times but ill looking to cop the Leigh Foxx from Blondie live tone.  I like a fair bit of tension on my strings so probably hex core, I also like a good fundamental and subdued highs so possible Nickel as opposed to Steel.  Ill need to look round but thoughts so far are GHS Pressurewounds, Fender 7150's and maybe even some half/ground wounds

I like what I am seeing, especially the red LX. Believe it or not, a few years back I was very close to buying that bass at BD. It was between this one, a LX with an amber finish and the 77. I eventually went for the 77 but it was a close call.  Enjoy 🙂

D'Addario Nickel XL's (usually 45 - 105) are a popular choice.... and what Spectors come with from the factory...

I can recommend the D'Addario EXL 165.

Nahhh, you should have bought all three of 'em. One ends up more than one Spector in the end anyway 🙂

These are simply beautiful, I keep an eye on a black Euro 435. I was foolish miss one that was for sale, it was an Ian Hill on the top of being a 435 (35" Euro 4) Still kick myself whenever it comes to my mind, would have been a perfect match for my white gloss Euro 435.

The Spector GAS is real

Interesting how they went with aguilar for their p/js.

Yeah, in an ideal world I would have bought them all. The amber one looked great too. I wonder if someone here on BC bought it. Lucky him/her 😎

Yes, Spector GAS is real and a very costly disease 😉

We will probably see even more Spector basses with Aguilar pickups now that Korg USA has bought them

It needed a good bass tone to take the attention away from her voice!

Yes, it is real 🙂

My Euro 435 came with aguilars but I have swapped them for X series EMG PJ. Sounds awesome. Still kept the Aggie OBP.

Yeah been sad to watch Debbie fade to a shadow of her former self. I completely loved that track as a teen!
