Here’s a question that probably fits better here than opening a new thread.

I can’t be bothered to take one off and weigh it at the moment, so I thought I’d ask. What’s the weight difference between the older Spector Euro bridges and the new light ones that are apparently <200g?

I don't know the answer as I never weighted my older Euro bridges even though 2 of them (pre-LX Euro 5 and Euro 5LX) were taken apart when refinished, but your question got me thinking as to what bridges I have one my newer Euros. How do we tell the new, lightweight ones from the older ones w/o weighting them? Is the presence of the intonation screws the giveaway?

My Classic 5 and two Euro limited editions have this newer, intonation screw bridge and the Spector.com site list these parts as "lightweight zinc brass alloy Spector bridge" Should I assume that these are lightweight?

(not that it matters much as the basses in question are not heavy but I can't sleep at night if Spector related questions keep hanging unanswered 🙂 )

The chrome one is from my 2017 Euro 77, the gold one I got from Bass Direct in 2020 to replace the chrome one as gold hardware matched the walnut look better, in my opinion at least.

Jeez. I would never have guessed it would be that much difference! That could mean the difference between selling and not selling a bass if the buyer is tight and insists on say, <4kg. 4.2 becomes 3.95.

@Eldon Tyrell so the "lightweight zinc brass alloy Spector bridge" that is on my LE77 is not lightweight at all 🙂

(mine has the original chrome just like the one you swapped out)

Well, maybe other chrome ones are even heavier. We need to do some proper testing 🙂

There must be several different types of bridges on Spector basses. I remember that the one on my black 2020 LT felt rather plasticky, maybe it was the black coating. I still remember the chunky neck on that one. Did not have it for long.

I know what you mean, my custom euro 435 has a similar black bridge which feels different than the chrome or gold (I guess the black is powder coated or painted whereas the gold and chrome is plated)

I've just realised that there's maths, stats or some kind of numerical analysis in about 34.65% of my posts.

We must use every opportunity to show Spector beauties

There's a glut of them on the way right now...

...they'll be here before the end of the month, so I'm told 🤐

Can you not be a bit more precise please?

Yes, it is.

The DR Neon white strings didn't stay long on the bass....as much as they look great on stage especially with UV lighting, boy do they sound dull and lifeless.

Please could someone help me identify the date of manufacture for this Legend Classic 4 serial number W170329 ?

Legends are out of my wheelhouse (as corporate types say) but someone who knows will be along soon enough.

W is the Korean factory that has always made them. I know that.

I would then guess it's 2017 and the 329th of that year. But that is just a guess. Wait for someone who knows.

A busy afternoon with the Euro 5 LX. She's getting new EMGs and LHZ-03.

She might have a new bridge by the end of the week too... And she's been promoted to #1 5-string this week.

Does anyone know what stain colour these are, what it is and where you can get it?

All done. That's 40DCs out (and up for sale already so you can buy them without nasty fees) and a 40P and 40J popped in.

This is the third LHZ-03 I've fitted and it was a bit different as the new EMGs come with the clever DuPont connectors meaning I saved a fortune on electric as I only needed to solder 3 joints at the jack socket.

If anyone wants an LHZ-03 or other preamp fitting, I'm available. I won't charge extra for the luminous green cable ties, battery blanket or fancy printed labels,  they're all part of the service.

This one is off to rehearsal for the first time tomorrow. That lot never react well when they see something new, so hopefully she behaves herself and makes some new friends.
