Congrats. Great score 👍 As it has the Spector logo on the headstock and the mother of pearl inlays but a serial number without NB, I would say it is a 1999 or 2000 NS-4CR, not a Euro (started in 2001 but serial number starts with NB).

So the only difference is that a year later they re named the same bass a Euro and put NB in front of the serial ?

The preamp should also differ. Yours should be the EMG BTS (unless the previous owner changed it). The Euro 4, which indeed started in 2001, came with the Aguilar OBP-1, succeeded in 2003 by the first version of the Spector TonePump. 2004 saw then the introduction of the Euro 4LX and the maple/walnut/alder body wings "sandwich".

+1 for the Legend. I got a used one of the Legend Custom range from off here, which I believe was an older top end Legend with set neck and 3 band EQ. Lasted literally about a month before I had to concede I was liking it rather more than I was expecting to and if that was true for the Legend what was a Euro LX going to be like?

Not a helpful question to be asking, particularly when Andertons (their pic below) promptly put a 5LX on sale and knocked a chunk off the new price... sometimes resistance is futile, eh?😁

And Bart pickups?

Fred Flintstone signature model😂

Curious fact:  The people of Dubai don't like The Flintstones.  Nobody knows why, it could be some long-held fear of Hanna-Barbera animations.  Even more curiously the people of Abu Dhabi Do!

I’m off shopping this weekend with the intention of returning with a Spector. Not sure quite which one (looking at NS XL USA, RST, Dimension, Euro LX/LT etc.) but it’s a long time since my last (Euro XL6 and previously a Far Eastern 5 that I can’t quite remember). Opinions on your favourite 5 are welcome!

I do not play 5 string Spectors but saw that PMT has some great summer deals for a Euro Bolt 5 - Inferno Red (£1,297) and a NS Ethos 5 - Interstellar (£1,134). These are really good prices (e.g., BD has the same models in stock for £1,639 and £1,575 respectively)!

Check them out!

PMT also has the latest Rudy Sarzo signature model (Euro 4 LT with Fishman Fluence pickups, red gloss finish) for £1,749.

Further Spectors:

- A Euro Bolt 4, Tobacco Sunburst for £1,218

- A NS Ethos 4, Faded Black for £1,070

- Bantam 5, Solid White for £1,283

Great prices 🤩

Ooh crikey they’re cheap. I was also looking at the Bantam - Ian Alison’s YT demo made it sound very nice and I’m a sucker for EMG humbuckers… thanks!

Yes it is, i would like to change it out for a Haz but i believe the board dimensions of the Haz are slightly different to the cavity size ?
