Rich
Been umming and ahhing about this, thought I'd canvass some opinion. Black hardware -- tuners, bridge, control plate, knobs. Yes or no?
sprocketflup
Im a fan of black hardware so Id say yes I tried an OLP couple years back and found the neck way to chunky too, I eventually found Stingray happiness in my price bracket with a Sub, nice slim neck, very playable
Rich
Ta Yes, the stock OLP neck was a real baseball bat. This JD fretless neck is a dream.

songofthewind
I have to say I don’t really care for black hardware, especially on a Ray type thing.
Andyjr1515
Hmmm....tricky one. Normally, I favour black hardware. But I keep looking back to your first photo and, well, that chrome does add a crispness to the look. I'm really not sure. I bet that helps a LOT!

Weird - I'd always perceived my OLP neck to be quite skinny. My OLP is one of the later models with 2 pickups though, so maybe they changed the profile at some point? Or maybe my hands are just lying to me I'll have to bring it back from the rehearsal room after next practice and measure them all up to see.

On the contrary the more I look at the pics, the more I think I will stick with the chrome. Changing to black would be a change for the sake of it. Forget I said anything
ezbass
Yeah, stick with the chrome. A great big black blob of a control panel will spoil the look IMO.
TheGreek
I'm a great believer in a limited palette. If you go for black tuners I'd think about black bridge, scratchplate, knobs and control plate (don't think I've seen one of these). Sticking with what you have may not be a bad move.
