How about a piece of plastic or metal which you could hold between your fingers and use to strike the strings on your guitar or bass.....I'm thinking about something that looks like this:

Image result for plectrum

...but what would I call it??? a "Pick"? Maybe a "plectrum"?? What do you think??

A “strumpet”?

I'd like to be able to claim I've got a couple of strumpets in my pocket...

I have a nasty habit of fiddling with my strumpet between songs while the lead singer is doing the intro for the next one.

I only use a strumpet for a few songs, so when I get to the next one I look and my strumpet has fallen under the amp!

Well, that’s better than chucking strumpet after strumpet into the audience for them to take home as a souvenir.

It's a contraction of an old instruction that Geordie bandleaders used to give to their rhythm guitarists.
