claustra
NOW SOLD this high end Japanese made Jazz Bass. VanZandt basses are crafted by PGM - they also build the well regarded Moon guitars - and use the American made Van Zandt pickups. Alder body Nitro lacquer Rosewood fingerboard Clay dot inlays 38mm at nut (oil finished bone) More detail can be found here : https://www.taurus-corpo.com/vanzandt-bass This is a rather lightweight instrument, less than 4kg (I'll double-check if needed), very resonant with loads of sustain and a very deep sound. Low action at the moment. I got it from a trade on this forum a few months ago, and although it really is a superb bass, I prefer broader necks and Precision pickups. I'm based in Northern France and happen to be in London and Kent once in a while. Comes with a generic flight case. Shipping is not a problem Not especially looking for a trade, but you never know (especially if Mick wants to part with the green Overwater contemporary Jazz again !!) bubinga5
This is really nice. VanZandt basses are the shiz. Up there with Moon. Now that is some thin nitro.
grahamd
As a former owner I can attest to this being a lovely instrument, plays easy and the pickups are really something to hear, very rich and full. GLWTS
claustra
Graham, it is excellent indeed, but is too much of a jazz bass for me ! I don't know how they do that, but it resonates like a genuine 40+ year-old instrument. Edited October 11, 2018 by claustra
totorbass
Very nice. FB radius does not look vintage but less rounded, is it?
claustra
The website says the radius is 210, I'm not a specialist but it might well be a bit flatter. Here is a pic
totorbass
Yes it seems to be. With bigger frets too I believe. I assume that's why it's called Neo . That will allow a lower string action and more clarity. Definetly an interesting bass. Edited October 11, 2018 by totorbass
epoxyjazzbass
Exactly 8.25' radius, medium frets. These bass can be setup lower than a Fender vintage and are built with a slight curve to the neck in mind (I know how they are setup at the start when new). These specs help in that aspect, though the built quality is also involved; result : close to a vintage but you can play difficult lines with ease I assume the Vanzandt pickups add something, the electric sound is stronger than a fender CS; and they are acoustically powerfull with consistency all over the neck Great bass; it seems like we have a bargain here
claustra
@epoxyjazzbass it is a good price indeed, I got it from a three-way deal (that is a long story), and I'm putting it back for sale at the price it was traded for. That will be a great deal for the one who likes jazz basses
