Luthier suggestions for SW England

Hi all,

I'm considering going for a custom NR Thunderbird-type bass that will be a keeper (of course, we all say that), but a well-rated chap in Bristol has an 18-month waiting list.
Any tips on somewhere in the area that would be able to do it a bit quicker would be greatly appreciated, as I don't think Google Maps searching is that accurate for such a service.

@Christine on this forum, she isn't quite in the South West but her builds look exceptional.

Not sure South-West includes Brighton? If it does, give Bernie Goodfellow a ring. He's a bit of a wiz with bass and guitar builds. Not sure I've seen him do a T-Bird but he's done numerous original and cloned designed to a very high standard - Mark King and Lawrence Cottle are users.

Aye Tom Waghorn is a busy chap.

 I did a similar look as you looking out for maybe doing a custom 12ver near to Bristol.

I struggled....Maybe a trip to Jon Shuker in Derbyshire, not too far, he gets good reviews.

Or take the plunge and do a self build?!

Tom is, indeed! 

A self build is tempting using bought parts, but NR bodies seem very difficult to buy.

Totnes School of Guitar Making, maybe? I don’t know who’s runnng it now, but Norman Reed (sadly no longer with us) used to make and fix all sorts.
